Job description: JOB SUMMARY: To provide support to District schools with English Learners by being a resource to parents in an effort to effectively communicate and assist with establishing opportunities for parents to be leaders and advocates in their child?s education. The role of this bilingual interpreter is part of a comprehensive effort to build and ensure responsiveness, problem solving, and helpfulness to all parents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor?s degree preferred;
- Two years of translation and interpretation experience;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites;
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff or district patrons;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.
- Ability to work harmoniously and collaboratively with others or in teams;
- Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills,
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English, Spanish, or other languages related to the job.
- Translates and interprets for parental involvement activities in support of the district?s mission to build a great community - one student at a time;
- Assists in the coordination of services for children and families through multiple partnerships with public and private agencies by linking family members to opportunities and services in the community;
- Assists in providing opportunities for parents of English Learners to enhance their knowledge of their child?s development and other relevant information;
- Assists in planning and participation of Family Engagement programs with Parent facilitators, etc.;
- Assists in foreign transcript review and programmatic assessment;
- Provides interpreting for meetings such as IEP, RTI, Teacher Conferences, etc.;
- Provides the translation of documents;
- Documents and maintains accurate records for all required state and federal reporting;
- Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Supervisor.
