We are hiring two full-time Staff Accountants to join our team. The Staff Accountant plays a pivotal role in taking ownership of client financials, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness across all bookkeeping deliverables. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial integrity, supporting client decision-making, and strengthening client relationships through proactive communication and high-quality work. What You Will Be Responsible For
Client and Revenue-Focused Work
You will be responsible for:- Maintaining accurate financial records across multiple clients
- Performing monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Executing complete month-end close procedures (including accruals and adjustments)
- Maintaining intercompany transactions and ensuring financial accuracy
- Preparing and supporting year-end close processes, coordinating with external firms as needed
- Reviewing and/or filing tax-related submissions (T4, T4A, T5, 1099, sales tax, and ad hoc filings)
- Delivering bookkeeping projects and accounting-related consulting engagements
- Analyzing financial data and flagging discrepancies or risks proactively
Collaboration and Team Contribution
You will be responsible for:- Working closely with accountants, analysts, and interns
- Training and supporting junior team members
- Contributing to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team environment
Operational and Administrative Responsibility
You will be responsible for:- Accurately tracking billable hours
- Maintaining up-to-date records in all internal systems
- Ensuring consistent and audit-ready documentation
- Participating in weekly check-ins and follow through on action items
- Communicating effectively using internal systems
- Coordinating and participating in client and internal meetings
- Communicating clearly and reporting to leadership
Requirements
What We Are Looking For
These are non-negotiable:- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience with a strong understanding of core accounting principles and best practices (accruals, reconciliations, financial statements).
- Recent graduates may be considered with a combination of relevant education and a minimum of 1 year of practical experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Excel, including experience reviewing files, identifying discrepancies, troubleshooting issues, and performing cleanups.
- Experience working with cloud-based accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Zoho Books, FreshBooks, Sage, AccountEdge); exposure to platforms such as SAP or NetSuite is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability and strong aptitude for learning new systems, tools, and workflows quickly.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and internal stakeholders.
- High level of ownership, accountability, and professional judgment in all assigned work.

- Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial and client information
