Job title: TEMPORARY MS Humanities Teacher Company: Oregon City School District 62 Job description: The person accepting this position will be teaching middle school classes that are project-based and cross-curricular. These classes will include ELA and Social Studies. Other classes, such as MS Advisory, may be taught as well. Our middle school program is capped at 70 students per grade level with a maximum student enrollment of 210 students. The middle school teaching team is a highly collaborative and innovative group committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities for all of our students that will prepare them to take full advantage of the opportunities available to them in our high school. All middle school classes are mixed grade levels with either 6/7 or 7/8 blend. Our high school program provides students with the opportunity to follow Career Pathways and works closely with Clackamas Community College and local industry partners. The Clackamas Academy of Industrial Sciences is a charter school created in partnership with the Oregon City School District, Clackamas Community College and manufacturing companies from the Portland Metro area. CAIS exists to provide students an innovative, contextual learning environment focusing on Project Based, cross curricular learning and manufacturing technologies. The school is open to any student in grades 6-12. CAIS offers a career relevant curriculum, industry exposure, internship experience, and college certification and degree opportunities. Our graduates will enhance the regional economy by providing a highly skilled, diverse and adaptable workforce to meet the needs of industry. Teachers at CAIS are compensated according to the same pay scale as non-charter schools in the Oregon City School District, and are eligible to be members of the Oregon City Education Association, our local collective bargaining association. Position Description: The individual accepting this position will teach middle school Language Arts and/ Social Studies. Special Requirements: (Certification, training, specialty skills or previous experience) 1. Valid Oregon teaching license. 2. Language Arts and Social Studies endorsements preferred. 3. Bilingual applicants are preferred, but not required. 4. Knowledge of social/emotional needs of middle school students, and ability to work well with students and peers. 5. Use of a variety of learning and instructional models as well as alternative assessment strategies. Project -based learning experience is highly preferred. 6. Interest in being involved with the total school community, including a willingness to lead and/or advise student club and after school activities. 7. Knowledge of and experience with technology, programming, and 3D printing preferred. 8. Personal attributes: Possession of a good sense of humor, willingness to work hard, demonstrated rapport with students, high energy level, and possession of sound organizational skills and practices. 9. Must have the ability to work collaboratively to share facilities and responsibilities working on a multi-disciplinary team. 10. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
