The Global Engagement Office invites applications for a Director of the English Language Institute to oversee the renewal and success of Montana?s premier English language program. The Director of the English Language Institute (ELI) provides academic and administrative leadership, manages and secures resources, collaborates with other campus units, seeks opportunities with international partners, promotes excellence in teaching, and fosters a collegial atmosphere that supports ELI?s mission and goals. We seek a visionary and entrepreneurial leader to guide Montana?s premier English language program. The Director, as chief representative and executive officer of the ELI, has the responsibility for supervising and coordinating administrative, teaching, student recruitment, and service activities. The opportunities to shape the ELI are significant thanks to the networks and culture already established. The Director will provide innovative leadership in formulating, implementing, and interpreting policies concerning academic programs, budgetary matters, and personnel (faculty, professionals, and staff). The Director represents the ELI to the University and the broader community, as well as to sponsoring agencies and prospective/current partners worldwide.
Position duty areas include, but are not limited to:

- Program Management
- Marketing and Recruitment Development
- Instructor and Staff Management and Mentoring
- Testing Assessment, and Instructional Materials
- Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive
- Bachelor?s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Ability to understand standard office procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Must be able to work independently including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling assignments, be accountable for their work, with a strong work ethic to achieve excellent results.
- Ability to actively contribute to a work environment that embraces diversity and diverse perspectives, and builds constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual regard.
- Master?s degree.
- Experience in or knowledge of TESOL.
- 3 years of progressively responsible experience in an office or administrative environment.
- Experience using budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures.
- Experience in grants and externally funded projects.
- Record of administrative leadership.
- Understanding of student recruitment and marketing.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Proficient in MS-Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), MS-Outlook.
