Summary of Job Duties: The Instructor will teach (Cooking, Dance, Music, Movement/Martial Arts, Theatre/Storytelling/Drama, STEM/Robotics/Coding, Chess, or Sewing) a group of 15- 20 students in grade K (1st - 5th) during the enrichment component of UA Little Rock Children International Afterschool Program at LRSD Partner Schools in person or virtually. Enrichment sessions are scheduled from 4 - 5:15 pm Monday- Thursday and the instructors are expected to report at 3:45pm for session preparation. Instructors must be able to work at least two days a week. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors in education or other relevant disciplines OR 3-5 years experience in field of expertise
- Experience teaching or facilitating elementary and/or middle school ages
- Develop and teach hands-on, skills-based (Cooking, Dance, Music, Movement/Martial Arts, Theatre/Storytelling/Drama, STEM/Robotics/Coding, Chess, or Sewing)
- Provide a course syllabus at the beginning of each semester (submit monthly reports on skills taught);
- Prepare students to demonstrate their learning in a real-world setting (performance, competition, etc.)
- Create and maintain an active, engaging, and safe learning environment;
- Serve as a positive role model to all students;
- Ensure all children are properly supervised and safe at all times;
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrated ability and expertise in area of choice
- Demonstrated ability to teach and manage groups of mixed-age elementary or middle school children;
- Ability to inspire students and create a stimulating learning environment;
- Energetic and passionate about being a role model for all youth;
- Strong communication and teamwork skills;
- Spanish helpful;
- Must be available on set program days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:45p.m. ? 5:15 pm
- Ability to provide own transportation to the site;
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
