As a Technical Lead II, Backend - Live Chat Development, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our product and leading a team of talented engineers.

About the Team

Our Live Chat Team is a dynamic and innovative group of professionals who are passionate about building scalable, high-performance systems. We're committed to delivering a holistic service that goes beyond just chat capabilities, and we're looking for a seasoned Technical Lead II to join our ranks. As a Technical Lead II, you'll be responsible for leading a small team, providing technical guidance, and driving product direction.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Lead II, Backend - Live Chat Development, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Participating in the technical execution and delivery of new features to improve time to value
  • Unifying separate systems into a cohesive chat experience
  • Exploring generative AI opportunities to help our customers move fast
  • Making use of industry-leading 3rd party tools as well as robust home-grown infrastructure powering the arenaflex organization
  • Building and scaling a robust data infrastructure that serves the entire organization

Technical Requirements

* Proficiency in Java 11 and experience with microservices architecture

  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and the Dropwizard framework
  • Familiarity with Kafka for processing large volumes of data
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues

Leadership and Collaboration

As a Technical Lead II, you'll be a player-coach responsible for leading a small team. You'll collaborate with Product, Design, and other Tech Leads within your team to establish relevant, compelling, and challenging goals. You'll also actively work with other Tech Leads to address and resolve cross-team issues.

Mentorship and Coaching

We're committed to the growth and development of our team members. As a Technical Lead II, you'll be responsible for mentoring and coaching junior engineers, helping them to take on increasingly complex tasks and develop their skills.

Essential Qualifications

* 5+ years of experience as a senior engineer with some experience leading small teams

  • Strong passion for writing code and reading code
  • Experience fostering an environment that encourages autonomy and psychological safety
  • Understanding of the value of building a diverse team and commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives
  • Experience mentoring and coaching other team members in a psychologically safe way

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure)

  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker)
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible)
  • Experience with agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana)

As a member of our Engineering team, you'll be required to attend a regional arenaflex office for in-person onboarding. If you join our broader Product team, you'll also attend other in-person events to continue building on those connections.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $191,100 - $305,800 USD annually, depending on experience. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and generous paid time off.
