Research Assistant

The Research Assistant will support a SSHRC-funded project exploring how universities might leverage digital platforms for learning and connection beyond traditional classroom boundaries. Duties include: Supporting platform configuration and community launch activities; Assisting in the design and facilitation of virtual community events; Designing analytics and monitoring/tracking community engagement; administering participant surveys and assisting with qualitative data collection; supporting data analysis and synthesis across project phases; contributing to manuscript preparation and conference abstract development; project administration including scheduling, documentation, and coordination with community stakeholders.

This position is virtual/remote and can be performed from anywhere in Canada.

• Bachelor’s degree (communications, business, education, information technology, or social science field preferred); Master’s degree preferred.
• Academic or practical expertise and/or interest in online community building, social media and digital platforms, networked learning, or community engagement.
• Technical experience with online community platforms, social media management, or digital collaboration tools preferred.
• Experience in qualitative research methods (conducting interviews, surveys, focus groups) preferred.
• Strong organizational skills; experience in project coordination preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise in written communication and academic writing. Proficiency in communicating with diverse stakeholders across academic and professional contexts.
