Job description: ISD #316, Greenway Public Schools, is accepting applications for a Ojibwe Language and Cultural Education Teacher at the Greenway High School. MN License in American Indian Language and Culture preferred. Posting open until August 28th, 2023 or until filled.
Greenway ISD #316 is seeking a Full-time Ojibwe Langauage and Cultural Education Teacher with cutural knowledge of local Indigenous communities and traditions to improve the educational experience and outcomes of Indigenous students in Greenway Public Schools. The purpose of this position is to engage with students, staff and familes to promote and support Indigenous student belonging, learning and well-being. The ideal candidate will hae a proven ability to build reciprocal relationships with individuals from Indigenous communities and to foster collaboration with school staff. They will be an advocate for more equitable outcomes for Indigenous students with attention to the academic, social-emotional and college/career outcomes of the District's Native American students.
QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor's degree in a job-related area is required
- An American Indian language and culture education license is preferred
- Experience in Native American communities and knowledge of Ojibwe cultural traditions is reuired.
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to the educational needs of American Indian youth is required.
- Understanding of Federal and State laws relating to Indian Education is preferred.
