Job description: To provide small group instruction to ensure that assigned English Language Learners (ELLs) benefit from an instructional program that will permit each student to attain his/her maximum potential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor?s degree required
- A valid Ohio Teaching Certificate and certification established by the State Board of Education. A valid TESOL endorsement is preferred.
- Knowledge of ELL instructional strategies, SIOP, and curriculum and materials for ELL students.
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Willingness/ability to work as a team member.
- Good organizational skills.
- History of good job attendance.
- Demonstrate computer usage skills (with emphasis on data base management).
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills.
- Good public relation skills.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Must pass criminal background checks, be free from communicable disease.
- Must have the ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of a work day if so assigned.
- Works with the ESL Coordinator and/or EL Curriculum Specialist to identify the educational needs and instruct assigned students individually or in small groups in the location(s) and at times designated.
- Conferences with regular classroom teachers sharing the responsibility of those students in the tutorial program, to assure the coordination of service needs and communication between professionals.
- Keeps records of student progress which coordinate with those currently existing goals and objectives for each student.
- Implement by instruction and action all policies of the Board of Education and the district?s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Implement all policies and/or rules governing student conduct.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and/or administrative regulations.
- Maintain respect at all times for confidential information (student grades, student information other than directory information, and so forth).
- Assume other related duties as may be assigned by the administration.
- To serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- To help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
