The Phlebotomist collects adequate and correct blood specimens by venipuncture or micro technique on adults, children, and infants within the hospital, including outpatients, pre-surgical patients, Emergency Department patients, and patients in remote locations. For the mobile Phlebotomist duties will include other satellite locations deemed necessary by the hospital. Responsibilities:

• Maintains equipment and ensures that departmental supplies are stocked and well maintained. Notifies area supervisor when insufficient.

• Demonstrates appropriate understanding of the needs of patients and visitors for each specific age group. Addresses safety and psychological needs in planning or delivering care.

• Demonstrates knowledge of service priorities, work routines, and workflow patterns; monitors workflow to assure prompt and efficient delivery of services.

• Demonstrates the ability to evaluate departmental performance and recommends measures to improve services and quality of current methodologies.

• Demonstrates knowledge of designated laboratory section and competence in all required procedures in accordance with institutional policies.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians preferred.
• Six months experience in all phases of Phlebotomy desired.
• Prior experience in a hospital environment preferred.
• Weekends and holidays as scheduled. Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Strong customer focus.
• BLS or CPR/AED training required and accepted from only 2 organizations: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. No online programs from any organization will be accepted

The pay for this position ranges from $21.86 - $27.32 per hour This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate?s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job, and it does not include the value of benefits.
