Job description: ECU's Department of Physician Assistant Studies is a 27-month, master-level curriculum and is accredited by the ARC-PA. It is one of eight departments in the College of Allied Health Sciences (CAHS) and is in a state-of-the-art building on the health science campus in Greenville, NC, along with the College of Nursing and the Laupus Medical Library. The College of Allied Health Sciences is the first and largest college of allied health sciences in North Carolina and graduates the most allied health professionals for the state. The College has a strong working relationship with the ECU Brody School of Medicine, ECU College of Nursing, the East Carolina Heart Institute, ECU Department of Family Medicine, and the School of Dental Medicine. East Carolina University (30,000 students) is an integral part of the ECU Health System, the regional medical center that serves 29 counties.
ECU is located in Greenville, NC, which is the cultural, educational, medical and economic center of Eastern NC. The Greenville/Pitt County area has a population of approximately 175,000. Job Duties
In support of the PA Program curriculum candidate's primary duties and responsibilities will include:
- Participate as a lecturer/small group facilitator /course director throughout the curriculum, teaching in areas of expertise and program need.
- Participate as an instructor/proctor for clinical assessment activities in the didactic phases
- Participate in student activities of the didactic and clinical phases.
- Participate in the grading of student assignments and evaluation of student academic and professional development.
- Participate in student remediation planning and execution.
- Actively participate in ongoing program self-assessment and accreditation activities.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
- Serve as an advisor to students.
- Serve on program committees as assigned by the Program Director
- Participate in faculty development activities.
- Serve as a role model for PA Program students, staff, and faculty.
- Represent the PA Program within the ECU community.
- Support other PA faculty teaching in the curriculum.
