Department Postgraduate Medical Education Pre-Employment Screening Education, Identity Job Function General Administration Position Description HMS OEE is working with the Mass. Dept of Public Health (MADPH) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to prepare the national public health workforce to respond to future pandemics. Under the direction of the HMS Senior Associate Dean for Postgraduate Medical Education and co-PI for the Lead PGCoE for Education, the PGCoE Education Director is responsible for managing the deliverables of this grant-funded, multi-year project. PROJECT MANAGEMENT
  • Direct the day-to-day operations and delivery of all education projects for the Lead PGCoE for Education leveraging exceptional project and program management skills
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive landscape analysis, as detailed in the grant agreement, and update as needed, working collaboratively with the Education Director for Content Development (The Broad)
  • Direct the creation and delivery of 15 asynchronous courses on various aspects of pathogen genomics
  • Establish and lead the accreditation processes for all courses, certificate(s), and/or degree program(s), as warranted
  • Manage and produce all grant-required and programmatic reporting is on time and in the specified format, as required by the grant agreement
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
  • Ensure and maintain active, executive level relationships with leaders of five PGCoE centers, MADPH, CDC, MACPR, and several principal stakeholders (e.g. APHL, CSTE) on strategic approach(es) to course delivery
  • Establish and maintain active and transparent collaboration with the Broad Institute team and key national public health stakeholders
  • Lead the recruitment of and manage faculty/instructor(s) for all course components (webinars, recorded online content, assignment reviewers, workshop instruction, etc.)
  • Work collaboratively with key national and state public health stakeholders (e.g. APHL, CSTE) and national thought leaders on course and portal development, delivery, and progress
  • Lead community outreach and education events for the US public health workforce such as workshops, webinars, and seminars
EDUCATION MANAGEMENT
  • Direct the development, launch, and maintenance of an online education portal including educational software testing, cross-program process management, and in-unit communications as well as attainment of all production and reporting deadlines and deliverables
  • Create and develop an HMS 'Train the Trainer' certificate program, including a comprehensive course syllabus with academic requirements, course objectives, themes, course module progression, and appropriate accreditations
  • Manage the development and implementation of a new HMS master's degree program and/or program track
  • Develop and administer course/program evaluations, reporting appropriate data to key stakeholders and faculty as well as ensuring any necessary action is taken on identified problem areas
  • Ensure that educational components of any in-person and online workshops are appropriately structured to meet session needs and standards and faculty are well prepared for these sessions
FINANCIAL and ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT
  • Manage the Lead PGCoE for Education budget in collaboration with OEE finance and other key stakeholders ensuring all program budgets are accurate and expenses align with budgets
  • Ensure all rules, regulations, and guidelines of the federally funded grant program are adhered to
The Education Director will promote a strong collaborative atmosphere by working closely with a number of key stakeholders, including the Lead PGCoE for Education co-PIs, the HMS OEE Senior Director for Product Development, the HMS OEE Technology Team, the HMS OEE Finance Team, the Broad Institute's Education Lead, the HMS Office of Research Operations and Global Programs, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, various Lead PGCoE for Education committee members, and other groups as appropriate. School/Unit Harvard Medical School Job Summary The Lead PGCoE for Education has three aims: * Manage a needs assessment and landscape analysis to identify gaps in knowledge and training, which will guide the development of educational offerings;
  • Oversee the development of a PGCoE portal and accreditation program/accredited programs with curated online training offerings by aggregating and converting the PGCoE's existing curricula and developing additional content for asynchronous and synchronous modules; and
  • Develop advanced and non-traditional learning opportunities via hybrid and/or experiential courses, ?Train the Trainer? programs, a new master's degree Pathway, and novel learning experiences.
This role works closely with the OEE Senior Director of Product Development and the Broad Institute team on the development and delivery of up to fifteen asynchronous courses, ensuring that the learner experience maintains a high educational standard of service and professionalism.
