Job description: Assistant Faculty are an essential part of creating the optimal learning environment. The University relies on assistant faculty to support instructional faculty by interacting with students in online classrooms that have many students. The successful Assistant Faculty is student focused and able to create and implement various methods of communication and supplemental instruction to support student success. This position works a defined number of hours per week and reports into key Faculty roles within the designated team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analyze student activity within discussions and assessments and choose the appropriate responses
- Assist in managing student communications through live session presentations, assistant faculty lead weekly study groups, and 1:1 sessions. (All live sessions being on camera is required)
- Utilize online learning management systems platforms to communicate with students through accurate discussion responses and grading
- Escalate unique issues to the lead instructor
- Monitor engagement levels and provide recommendations on the best approach on how to increase engagement
- Computer and technical equipment is not provided by the organization and is the responsibility of the hired employee.
- Broadband (Cable or DSL) required with minimum internet connections of 512kbps
- Windows 11, Windows 10, Mac OS Monterey (12), Mac OS Big Sur (11), or Mac OS Catalina (10.15)
- Minimum of 3GHz processor, Minimum of 8GB of memory (RAM), and Minimum 30GB of free hard disk space
- Video Card and monitor display capable of 1280x1024 pixel resolution
- Headset with microphone
- Working webcam for live sessions, meetings, and student interactions
- Recommended Browsers are Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox
- Microsoft Office 365 (once employed will have access), Adobe Acrobat Reader, and Antivirus Software running and up to date

- Accurately use the right type of responses based upon training and input from the master instructor
- Assist in managing generic student communications
- Utilize online learning platform (Blackboard) to communicate with students
- Escalate unique issues to the master instructor
- Assist with grading
- Monitor engagement levels and provide recommendations on the best approach on how to increase engagement
- Other duties as assigned
- Adhere to university policies and procedures
- All degrees must be conferred and from an accredited institution to be considered
- Master?s degree required
- Previous teaching experience with adult learners
- Exhibits sound judgment in making decisions
- Ability to lead group discussions
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong computer skills
- Access information using a computer
- Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain
- Manage potentially stressful situations in a professional and ethical manner
- Strong mental acuity
