A privately owned receivables management company formed in 1983 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, is seeking an Insurance Follow-up Specialist with experience. You could be part of a growing company that offers competitive base pay, plus incentives, and endless potential for growth.

Job Description

Candidate is responsible for following up directly with commercial and governmental payers to resolve medical claim issues, secure appropriate, and timely reimbursement.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates insurance follow up on aged, unresolved claims to ensure maximum reimbursement
  • Submits appeals and reconsiderations on claim rejections, underpayments, and denials
  • Engages the coding follow-up team for any medical necessity or coding related appeals
  • Sets follow-up activities based on status of the claim
  • Communicates identified payer trends such as denials for specific procedure, diagnosis codes, or other identified issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must reside in Texas
  • Four years relevant experience in medical collections
  • Experience with Epic, Meditech, or Ace preferred
  • An understanding of revenue cycle
  • Demonstrate problem solving ability/analytical skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Basic Microsoft Excel knowledge
  • Typing speed: 45+ WPM
  • US work authorization (required)
  • Must be able to pass background check and drug screen as permitted by law
