This is a 100% LATAM-based, remote hourly contractor role, with no benefits. Interested individuals must be a citizen or permanent resident of any LATAM country. *SPONSORSHIP NOT AVAILABLE* ImagineX Studio - Costa Rica is seeking a highly skilled Senior MACSS/Mainframe Developer to support critical project, operational, and platform initiatives within our mainframe environment. This role is essential to strengthening our client's delivery capacity, reducing single‑threaded dependencies, and enabling full‑time engineering resources to focus on advancing the Giga z/OS Connect platform and associated service builds.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, enhance, and maintain MACSS and mainframe-based applications and services Support ongoing project work, operational needs, and platform enhancements across the mainframe ecosystem Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure stable, scalable, and high‑quality mainframe solutions Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within MACSS and related mainframe components Contribute to modernization efforts, including integration with z/OS Connect and API‑driven services Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, security requirements, and compliance frameworks Provide subject matter expertise to internal teams and help reduce single points of failure in current workflows

Required Qualifications

Extensive hands-on experience with MACSS, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and other core mainframe technologies Strong understanding of mainframe application architecture, batch processing, and system integrations Proven ability to support both project-based development and day‑to‑day operational needs Experience troubleshooting complex mainframe issues in production and non‑production environments Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with z/OS Connect, API enablement, or mainframe-to-cloud integration patterns Familiarity with Agile or hybrid delivery methodologies Background supporting large-scale enterprise platforms or modernization initiatives Knowledge of DevOps practices within mainframe environments This is a 100% LATAM-based, remote hourly contractor role, with no benefits.
