Experienced Crisis Intervention Specialist – 988 Chat/Text Crisis Support

Job Summary:
We're seeking an experienced Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention focused team. As a remote position, you'll handle incoming chat/text messages through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), also known as 988. Your primary responsibilities will include providing brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress. While interactions begin online, you may also support telephonic intervention to ensure safety.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provides telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to identify individuals at risk of suicide or emotional distress
- Answers crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to meet individual needs
- Conducts follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide
- Meets the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation requirements
- Actively participates in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings
- Assists in administrative tasks as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Effectively communicates via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods
- Demonstrates high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette
- Knowledge of suicide assessments and crisis intervention
- Ability to provide service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required; or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
- Six months to one year of related crisis experience preferred
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention principles
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
