Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Remote)
Our client, a pioneering force in renewable energy solutions and advanced electrical systems, is seeking an exceptional Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This senior-level position is instrumental in leading the design and development of complex electrical systems for innovative projects. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of electrical design, from conceptualization and schematic development to detailed design, component selection, and verification. This role demands a high degree of technical expertise, creativity, and leadership, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and influence architectural decisions. Responsibilities: Lead the electrical design and development of cutting-edge electrical systems, power electronics, and control systems. Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts using industry-standard CAD tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD). Perform complex circuit analysis, simulations (e.g., SPICE, ANSYS), and power calculations to ensure system performance and reliability. Select and specify electrical components, including microcontrollers, power semiconductors, sensors, and passive components. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for validating electrical designs, including unit testing, integration testing, and system-level testing. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical design issues throughout the product development cycle. Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and firmware engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior electrical engineers. Define electrical architecture and system specifications for new product development. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in electrical engineering, power electronics, and relevant industry standards. Contribute to the development of engineering best practices and design standards. Review and approve electrical designs from other team members. Manage relationships with component suppliers and external consultants as needed. This is a 100% remote position, requiring a highly self-motivated and organized individual with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. Proven track record of successfully designing and bringing complex electrical products to market. Deep expertise in circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation tools. Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, power management, and embedded systems. Experience with microcontroller-based systems and firmware integration. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated leadership ability and experience mentoring engineering teams. Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Experience with high-voltage systems or renewable energy technologies is a significant plus.
