Our client, a vibrant organization dedicated to promoting sports and community engagement, is seeking a creative and energetic Sports Event Planner for a contract role in Boise, Idaho. This hybrid position involves conceptualizing, organizing, and executing a variety of sporting events, from local tournaments to larger community-focused competitions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will play a key role in ensuring that all events are well-coordinated, engaging, and successful.

Responsibilities

Plan, develop, and execute all aspects of assigned sports events, including logistics, scheduling, and budgeting. Coordinate with venues, vendors, and suppliers to secure necessary resources and services. Develop event marketing and promotional materials to drive participation and attendance. Manage event registration processes and communicate with participants and stakeholders. Oversee on-site event operations, ensuring smooth execution and participant satisfaction. Liaise with sports leagues, teams, and athletes to facilitate event participation. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and insurance requirements. Manage event budgets, track expenses, and provide financial reports. Recruit, train, and supervise event staff and volunteers. Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement. Stay updated on current trends and best practices in sports event management.

Qualifications

Proven experience in event planning, with a specialization in sports events. Strong understanding of various sports and athletic competitions. Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills. Proficiency in budgeting and financial management. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Experience with event management software and registration platforms. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules. Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
