Junior Accounts Payable Clerk

R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited is a growing Canadian employee-owned Civil and Environmental Engineering Consulting Firm. They are seeking a Junior Accounts Payable Clerk to manage vendor payments, ensure financial accuracy, and support accounting operations in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Processing high volumes of vendor invoices using our electronic AP system, including uploading and validating digital invoice files
  • Managing the electronic approval workflow to ensure invoices are properly routed and verified
  • Reviewing invoices for accuracy, correct expense allocation, tax treatment, and compliance with company policies
  • Responding to vendor inquiries promptly and professionally
  • Maintaining and updating vendor records and related documentation
  • Providing backup support for employee expense processing and reimbursement
  • Maintaining accurate AP records with a focus on audit readiness and retention
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to digital workflows and AP automation
  • Performing daily transactions, month‑end procedures, and general administrative duties for the Accounting department
  • Completing other tasks as assigned by the Accounting Manager

Skills

  • A College Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
  • Relevant experience in a high-volume environment; experience in a private-sector professional services organization
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • The ability to work with accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience with digital AP systems or workflow automation
  • Prior exposure to tax treatment, expense allocation, or audit preparation in an AP setting
