  • Enter new prescriptions and refill requests accurately into the pharmacy information system, ensuring all required data fields are completed.
  • Collect and process copay amounts, coordinate authorizations, and communicate financial responsibilities to patients.
  • Collaborate with insurance carriers, healthcare providers, and internal clinical teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve clinical or financial barriers.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all interactions, updates, and resolutions within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Escalate complex cases to senior pharmacy specialists or supervisors while following established escalation protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions, quality assurance reviews, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, privacy, and compliance standards, including HIPAA and state pharmacy regulations.
  • Contribute ideas to enhance workflow efficiency, patient satisfaction, and overall service quality.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a high‑volume customer service environment, preferably handling complex inquiries over the phone.
  • Proficiency with Windows‑based applications, Microsoft Office suite, internet navigation, and email communication tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to type accurately and efficiently (minimum 40 wpm) with strong keyboarding skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or coursework in health care or related fields are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
  • Strong problem‑solving aptitude and the capacity to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Eligibility to work legally in the United States and residence in the state of Texas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, health‑care, or insurance setting, with familiarity of prescription terminology, benefits verification, and medical jargon.
  • Knowledge of specialty medication handling, prior authorization processes, and patient assistance programs.
  • Experience using pharmacy management software or electronic health record (EHR) platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex insurance landscapes and negotiate resolutions that balance clinical efficacy with financial feasibility.
  • Certification such as Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or similar credentials.
