Why This Role Matters

As a Remote Bookkeeping & Data Analytics Specialist, you will sit at the intersection of finance, data engineering, and product development. You will be the go‑to expert for the bookkeeping community, translating complex financial data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions. This position is perfect for professionals who are passionate about US GAAP, love working with large data sets, and enjoy partnering with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑impact solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Specialized Bookkeeping, Functional Bookkeeping, Product, Finance, Analytics, Legal, and other stakeholders to define and execute data‑driven initiatives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive bookkeeping data requirements that enable the automated processing of journal entries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency, and efficiency across financial cycles.
  • Lead functional improvement projects aimed at streamlining revenue processes and reducing the revenue close timeline.
  • Validate data quality of journal entries generated by the Revenue Subledger and design data‑quality checks for various use cases, including bookkeeping requirements design, custom testing, and new product releases.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to continuously enhance the daily Revenue Reconciliation process and oversee reconciliation investigations alongside the audit team.
  • Review new product designs for inbound Revenue Consistency and assess impact on existing or new bookkeeping requirements.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams on journal entry pipelines for new or existing products to enable automation via the Revenue Subledger.
  • Execute month‑end revenue bookkeeping close tasks, including GAAP revenue analysis, cost of revenue investigation, debt claim reconciliations, journal entry reviews, and audit close package preparation.
  • Participate in ad‑hoc special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in revenue bookkeeping, data analysis, and business intelligence.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 Revenue Recognition; familiarity with IFRS is a plus.
  • Advanced SQL skills with the ability to query and manipulate large volumes of relational data.
  • Proficiency in Python (or a comparable scripting language) for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Excellent logical and critical‑thinking abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to adapt to evolving business environments.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of interacting with senior leadership and cross‑functional teams both remotely and in person.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data‑pipeline tools such as Airflow, dbt, or similar orchestration platforms.
  • Background in building automated financial reporting dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Exposure to cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift).
  • Understanding of audit processes and familiarity with internal control frameworks.
  • Prior experience in a remote‑first or distributed team environment.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Data‑Driven Mindset: Ability to translate raw data into clear, actionable recommendations for finance and product teams.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working effectively across diverse functional groups, fostering a culture of shared ownership.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to data validation, journal entry accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Problem‑Solving: Comfortable diagnosing complex data anomalies and proposing scalable solutions.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, capable of presenting technical findings to non‑technical audiences.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in employee development. In this role, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior finance and data engineering leaders.
  • Sponsored certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, Google Cloud, AWS).
  • Quarterly “Innovation Days” where you can pitch new ideas and prototype solutions.
  • Cross‑training opportunities with Product, Engineering, and Legal teams, broadening your business acumen.
  • A clear career ladder from Specialist to Senior Analyst, Lead Analyst, and eventually Finance Data Architecture Manager.
