[Remote] Computational Mechanical Engineer | Remote
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Crossing Hurdles is seeking a Computational Mechanical Engineer to design graduate-level computational problems in structural and mechanical engineering. The role involves building benchmark tasks and utilizing finite element tools for analysis and simulations, all while working remotely on a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities
- Design original computational problems requiring advanced use of finite element or structural mechanics software such as scikit-fem or similar libraries
- Develop tasks involving beam theory (including Timoshenko models), elasticity problems, variational formulations, and mesh-based simulations
- Construct problems that require reasoning over numerical simulation outputs, convergence behavior, and structural response interpretation
- Demonstrate strong Python programming skills for building simulation setups, oracle functions, and validation frameworks
- Apply hands-on expertise with computational mechanics tools through research, publications, or professional engineering work
- Work independently in Linux-based environments and remote compute sandboxes while iterating on task design using calibration feedback
- Experience with benchmark design, reproducible computational workflows, or multi-scale mechanical modeling is preferred
