arenaflex is a fast‑growing, technology‑driven e‑commerce leader that specializes in delivering a seamless online experience for pet owners across the United States. Founded in 2011, arenaflex has rapidly expanded from a niche pet‑supplies retailer into a full‑service digital marketplace, offering everything from premium pet food and toys to health‑care products and accessories. Our mission is to empower pet parents with convenient, reliable, and personalized service—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

At arenaflex, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. We invest heavily in data‑driven decision making, cloud‑native architectures, and modern observability platforms such as Splunk. Our culture celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning, providing every employee with the tools and autonomy to shape the future of pet‑care commerce.

Why This Role Matters

As an Information Specialist II you will be a pivotal member of arenaflex’s Customer Service Technology team. You will partner with cross‑functional product, engineering, and operations groups to design, build, and maintain sophisticated Splunk solutions that power real‑time monitoring, alerting, and analytics across our entire platform. Your work will directly influence the reliability of our services, the efficiency of our support teams, and ultimately the satisfaction of millions of pet owners who rely on arenaflex every day.

Key Responsibilities

Data Modeling & Management

  • Design, create, and maintain robust data models, including fields, extractions, tags, event types, and macros, to ensure consistent and searchable data across all arenaflex services.
  • Perform data onboarding, enrichment, and transformation pipelines using Python, JavaScript, and Splunk’s Search Processing Language (SPL).
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define data collection standards and ensure high‑quality logging from new services and applications.

Splunk Dashboard & Search Development

  • Develop advanced Splunk dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Dashboard Studio that provide actionable insights for product, reliability, and customer‑service stakeholders.
  • Write complex SPL queries, alerts, and scheduled searches that proactively surface anomalies, performance bottlenecks, and security events.
  • Document best‑practice guidelines for Splunk search, alerting, and dashboard design, and mentor internal teams on their adoption.

Automation & Integration

  • Automate Splunk configuration, deployment, and scaling using Ansible, Git, and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • Integrate Splunk with external systems such as AWS CloudWatch, REST APIs, and third‑party monitoring tools to create a unified observability stack.
  • Develop and maintain Splunk Apps and add‑ons that extend platform capabilities and streamline operational workflows.

Operational Support & Incident Response

  • Provide tier‑2 support for Splunk platform issues, troubleshooting performance, indexing, and search latency problems.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations, responding to critical alerts, performing root‑cause analysis, and driving post‑mortem documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Customer Service Operations team to translate business requirements into technical solutions that improve response times and reduce manual effort.

Continuous Improvement & Reporting

  • Generate and maintain executive‑level summary reports that track key performance indicators (KPIs) for system health, data quality, and service reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for performance optimization, cost reduction, and automation within the Splunk ecosystem.
  • Stay current with Splunk product releases, emerging observability trends, and industry best practices to keep arenaflex ahead of the curve.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience building advanced Splunk dashboards, searches, and alerts in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, JavaScript, or similar) for data manipulation and automation.
  • Strong understanding of Splunk’s XML architecture, data models, and the fundamentals of SPL.
  • Experience with Splunk Dashboard Studio and the creation of interactive visualizations.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible and version control systems like Git.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex Splunk performance issues, including indexing, search latency, and resource utilization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑starter attitude, comfortable working independently in a remote environment while maintaining high productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and related services (e.g., CloudWatch, S3, Lambda).
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and experience building integrations between Splunk and external systems.
  • Background in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for observability tooling.
  • Prior involvement in large‑scale data onboarding projects, including schema design and data quality governance.
  • Certification in Splunk (e.g., Splunk Core Certified Power User or Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin).
  • Exposure to container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and micro‑services architectures.

Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to dissect large data sets, identify patterns, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working effectively with product managers, engineers, and support teams to deliver cross‑functional solutions.
  • Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting mindset, capable of diagnosing and resolving intricate platform issues under pressure.
  • Communication: Clear, concise documentation and presentation skills for both technical and executive audiences.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a fast‑paced, evolving technology landscape and quickly adopting new tools and processes.
  • Customer‑Centric Focus: Commitment to improving the end‑user experience through reliable, data‑driven insights.
