Position Overview

The Remote Healthcare Customer Advisor – Special Needs role is a full‑time, telecommute position (40 hours per week) that offers flexible work‑from‑home arrangements within the continental United States. You will join arenaflex’s Family Engagement Center, providing holistic support to members who have special needs themselves or who care for children or family members with special needs. This role blends empathy, problem‑solving, and proactive outreach to deliver an extraordinary experience for every family you serve.

Key Responsibilities

  • End‑to‑End Family Support: Own the complete resolution cycle for complex benefit, claim, billing, prior‑authorization, and appeal issues, ensuring families receive clear guidance and timely outcomes.
  • Multi‑Channel Member Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact via phone, email, chat, and text, delivering compassionate support that creates memorable, positive experiences.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate ongoing relationships with members, teammates, and external partners, fostering trust and continuity throughout the member’s health‑care journey.
  • Independent Decision‑Making: Apply sound judgment and critical thinking to solve problems creatively, making decisions that balance policy compliance with member‑centric outcomes.
  • Project & Time Management: Prioritize, organize, and complete work to meet established objectives, ensuring follow‑up and outreach tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Outreach & Referral Coordination: Initiate contact with members referred by executives and partners, accurately document family counts, and determine appropriate referrals to additional programs or services.
  • Team Collaboration & Mentorship: Contribute to a strong team environment by mentoring peers, sharing best practices, and acting as a resource for colleagues.
  • Proactive Value‑Add: Anticipate member needs, seek out internal and external resources, and deliver unexpected value that exceeds expectations.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high‑quality member experiences as reflected in post‑contact surveys and feedback, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent work experience).
  • At least 1 year of experience helping, resolving, or advocating on behalf of members or customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to create correspondence, manage spreadsheets, and handle email/calendar functions.
  • Ability to work the scheduled hours (9:45 am – 6:15 pm CST, Monday‑Friday) and occasional overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • 1 year of experience with arenaflex’s internal support platforms (formerly A4Me) or 3 months of experience with arenaflex’s Quick Assist tool.
  • Claims processing background, especially within a health‑care environment.
  • Personal or professional experience caring for children with special needs.
  • Experience in member‑focused health‑care settings, social services, caregiving, hospitality, social work, sales, or non‑profit agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex benefit terminology and translate it into clear, actionable language for members.
