Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and motivated Real-World Evidence (RWE) Data Scientist to join our Scientific Issues team at arenaflex. This full-time, remote-eligible role is based in North Carolina, USA, and reports directly to the Director of Clinical Data Science. The successful candidate will play an instrumental role in generating rigorous real-world evidence through advanced analytics and innovative methodologies within the clinical trials and biopharmaceutical research space. You will be responsible for designing and executing sophisticated analyses that inform both internal strategy and external partnerships with biopharmaceutical sponsors, healthcare providers, and research institutions.
As an RWE Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will harness vast, complex healthcare datasets to uncover insights that drive smarter clinical trial design, enable evidence-based decision-making, and ultimately improve patient outcomes. You will work with protected health information (PHI), insurance claims, electronic medical records (EMR), and other licensed data assets to deliver standardized, analysis-ready patient cohorts, build predictive models, and craft compelling narratives from data. This is not a typical data entry or virtual assistant position — it is a high-impact, intellectually rigorous role for someone who wants to leverage data science as a force for good in healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Mining and Cohort Generation: Mine raw data sources to deliver standardized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data assets or licensed platforms. Analyze, interpret, and communicate results while helping shape the broader analytical strategy of the Scientific Issues team at arenaflex.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with members of the arenaflex Clinical Trials team to extract meaningful insights from real-world data, clinical data, and other healthcare information sources. Support biopharmaceutical RWE initiatives and clinical trial requests by analyzing unmet medical needs, evaluating safe and effective treatments in specific disease states, examining treatment patterns, assessing healthcare economic burden, and developing cost-effectiveness models.
- Data Architecture and Curation: Clean, transform, and structure data into organized data lakes for future analysis and broader team utilization. Ensure that all data assets are accurately cataloged, version-controlled, and accessible to authorized team members across arenaflex.
- Advanced Statistical Analysis: Perform sophisticated data mining and statistical analyses on RWE and real-world data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations, treatment outcomes, disease progression, and care delivery patterns.
- Platform and Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities by applying advanced analytics and modern tools to address scientific questions from biopharmaceutical clients. Help arenaflex stay ahead of the curve in an evolving evidence landscape.
- Outcomes Research Design: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, including protocol development, endpoint selection, and statistical analysis plans.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure the delivery of high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable deliverables from RWE studies and analyses. Maintain a culture of analytical excellence and reproducibility at arenaflex.
- Visualization and Reporting: Build interactive dashboards, analytical tools, and comprehensive reports for both internal stakeholders and external partners. Translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Vendor and Data Provider Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors, and drive RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions and partnership strategies at arenaflex.
