This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines that ingest, transform, and store massive volumes of information used to power arenaflex’s e‑commerce platforms and partner services. The position is fully remote, offering flexibility to work either the day or night shift, and provides a unique blend of hands‑on data entry, pipeline engineering, and cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain high‑throughput data pipelines that move terabytes of raw data into structured data lakes and warehouses.
  • Perform accurate data entry, updates, and validation tasks to ensure the integrity of critical business datasets.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including product, QA, program managers, and partner operations—to align data flows with business requirements.
  • Design and implement ETL processes using industry‑standard tools such as Apache Flink, Apache Spark, and Apache Airflow.
  • Optimize data models for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance, applying best practices for partitioning, indexing, and compression.
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications with Docker and Kubernetes on cloud platforms, ensuring seamless rollout and monitoring.
  • Utilize distributed computing services (e.g., arenaflex Cloud, arenaflex Cloud Platform) for data processing, storage, and analytics.
  • Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot data quality issues, and respond to production incidents with rapid, root‑cause analysis.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations and daily stand‑ups to support incident response and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document technical designs, data lineage, and operational procedures to foster knowledge sharing across the organization.

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven experience in data engineering concepts, data modeling, and ETL workflow design.
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., arenaflex SQL) and NoSQL stores such as Cassandra.
  • Hands‑on experience with programming languages and frameworks including Python, Scala, and Hadoop ecosystem tools.
  • Familiarity with streaming platforms like Apache Kafka for real‑time data ingestion.
  • Experience building and deploying containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cloud services (arenaflex Cloud, arenaflex Cloud Platform) for data storage, processing, and analytics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of taking ownership of end‑to‑end data solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Apache Flink or Apache Spark for large‑scale data processing.
  • Knowledge of data warehouse technologies such as Hive or similar distributed storage frameworks.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • Prior work in a remote or distributed team environment, demonstrating strong collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards in a retail context.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems and devise elegant, efficient solutions.
  • Problem‑Solving: Proactive approach to identifying bottlenecks, debugging pipelines, and implementing fixes.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable working within agile scrum teams, sharing knowledge, and contributing to collective success.
