Position Summary
arenaflex is hiring a Remote Pharmacy Customer Service Representative – Specialty Mail Order & Patient Support to join our Specialty Mail Order Pharmacy team. This is a fully remote, work-from-home opportunity, but candidates must reside in Michigan and within 75 miles of our Troy, MI location at 1307 Allen Dr, Suite H, Troy, MI. Occasional on-site requirements may be necessary for training, equipment retrieval, or team events.
In this role, you will be the first point of contact for patients receiving specialty drug therapies. You will handle incoming and outbound calls, process new prescriptions and refills, verify insurance benefits, communicate copay responsibilities, obtain prior authorizations, and collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and internal teams to resolve clinical or financial issues. Your work ensures that patients receive their medications safely, accurately, and on time — a responsibility we take very seriously.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, professional, and efficient telephone support to patients receiving specialty drug therapies.
- Process new patient medication orders and reorders, including data entry into the pharmacy information system.
- Verify and reverify patient insurance benefits, including coverage, copay amounts, and prior authorization requirements.
- Translate and accurately enter new or refill prescriptions into the pharmacy operating system.
- Communicate copay responsibilities clearly to patients and collect payment information when appropriate.
- Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies and follow up to ensure timely approval.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and internal teams to screen, identify, resolve, or appropriately defer orders with accounts receivable or clinical concerns.
- Meet daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals related to call volume, accuracy, and turnaround time.
- Document all patient interactions, order details, and resolution steps thoroughly in the system of record.
- Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA, patient privacy regulations, and arenaflex internal policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute ideas that enhance the patient experience.
- Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development activities.
Required Qualifications
- Residency: Must reside in the state of Michigan, within 75 miles of 1307 Allen Dr, Suite H, Troy, MI.
- Customer Service Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a customer service role handling and resolving a high volume of complex customer needs over the phone.
- Technical Proficiency: Minimum of one (1) year of work experience with Windows-based applications, including Microsoft Office, internet navigation, and email applications.
- Keyboarding Skills: Minimum of one (1) year of computer keyboarding experience with strong typing speed and accuracy.
- Education: Verifiable high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Remote Work Readiness: A dedicated, quiet home workspace with reliable high-speed internet connection.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and empathetically.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous healthcare, pharmacy, insurance, or benefits-related work experience.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, prescription processing, or pharmacy information systems.
- Experience working with prior authorizations, copay assistance programs, or specialty pharmacy operations.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly Spanish, are a strong plus.
- Prior experience in a remote or work-from-home customer service position.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.

Compensation and Benefits

The typical hourly pay range for this role is $17.00 – $28.45, with the final offer based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and relevant skills.
