About arenaflex – Pioneering Health‑Focused Innovation

arenaflex is a leading, technology‑driven health and pharmacy organization with a legacy that spans more than a century. With a network of nearly 9,000 retail locations across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, arenaflex serves close to 10 million customers each day, delivering an omnichannel experience that blends physical stores, digital platforms, and cutting‑edge technology. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to improve lives by making health better. We achieve this by empowering communities, advancing real‑world evidence (RWE) research, and partnering with biopharma innovators to accelerate the development of safe, effective therapies.

Why This Role Matters – The Impact of RWE at arenaxflex

In today’s fast‑moving healthcare landscape, real‑world evidence is the bridge between clinical trial data and everyday patient outcomes. As a Remote Real‑World Evidence Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of this transformation. Your analytical expertise will shape how we interpret massive, heterogeneous data sets—from electronic medical records (EMR) to insurance claims—turning raw information into actionable insights that guide drug development, inform regulatory decisions, and ultimately improve patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Acquisition & Curation: Extract, clean, and harmonize raw data from internal warehouses and external sources to create standardized, analysis‑ready patient cohorts.
  • Advanced Analytics & Modeling: Apply statistical, machine‑learning, and econometric techniques to answer critical business questions, including unmet medical needs, treatment effectiveness, cost‑effectiveness, and health‑economic outcomes.
  • Collaboration with Cross‑Functional Teams: Partner with clinical trial scientists, epidemiologists, biopharma partners, and product managers to translate data insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Data Lake Management: Store and maintain curated datasets in a secure, scalable data lake that supports downstream analytics and self‑service consumption.
  • Insight Delivery: Build interactive dashboards, visualizations, and reports using BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Spotfire, etc.) for internal stakeholders and external collaborators.
  • Methodology Development: Design reproducible statistical analysis pipelines, ensuring rigor, transparency, and compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory standards.
  • Due Diligence & Vendor Evaluation: Assess new real‑world data vendors, conduct quality assessments, and recommend data acquisition strategies that align with arenaflex’s research objectives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the evolution of arenaflex’s analytics platform, integrating emerging technologies such as AI‑driven natural language processing and federated learning.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field). A Ph.D. is a strong plus.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience in quantitative or computational roles, with a proven track record of delivering analytics in healthcare or life‑science settings.
  • Programming Proficiency: Advanced skills in R, Python, and/or SQL; ability to write clean, efficient code for data manipulation, statistical modeling, and automation.
  • Statistical Expertise: Deep understanding of generalized linear models, classification & discrimination, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time‑series analysis, and survival analysis.
  • Big‑Data Handling: Experience processing large, heterogeneous datasets from multiple sources (EMR, claims, registries, etc.) while maintaining data integrity and privacy.
  • BI & Visualization Tools: Proficiency with at least one major business‑intelligence platform (Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or similar) to create compelling visual narratives.
  • Regulatory Acumen: Familiarity with GCP, ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR, and other regulatory frameworks governing real‑world evidence studies.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Expertise

  • Ph.D. or advanced degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands‑on experience with health‑IT systems, disease registries, and claims databases.
  • Knowledge of medical coding standards (ICD‑9/10, SNOMED CT, Read Codes) and controlled vocabularies.
  • Experience designing observational studies, Bayesian modeling, sequential analysis, and experimental design.
  • Exposure to cloud‑based analytics platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong communication skills—ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑directed learner with a passion for staying current on emerging analytics methods and healthcare data trends.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to design, execute, and interpret robust statistical analyses with a focus on reproducibility.
  • Problem‑Solving Mindset: Proactive approach to identifying data gaps, formulating hypotheses, and delivering evidence‑based solutions.
  • Collaboration & Influence: Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams, influencing decision‑makers, and building consensus around data‑driven recommendations.
  • Data Governance Awareness: Understanding of data privacy, security, and compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
  • Technical Agility: Quick adaptation to new tools, languages, and frameworks as the analytics landscape evolves.
  • Communication Excellence: Craft clear, concise reports, presentations, and visualizations for both technical and executive audiences.
