Key Responsibilities

As a Remote Data Engineering Specialist at arenaflex, your primary mission will be to architect, build, and maintain large-scale data pipelines that power advanced analytics and information technology solutions. You will be responsible for identifying valuable internal and external data sources and collaborating closely with data scientists to define, design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge solutions that directly support enterprise priorities.

Core Day-to-Day Duties

  • Software Development for Data Systems: Develop and maintain software programs that efficiently process, store, and serve data to be utilized by various teams across the organization.
  • Pipeline Architecture: Design, build, and optimize information systems and pipelines to organize, acquire, and standardize data—enabling deeper insights and addressing diverse reporting needs.
  • ETL Development: Write robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) procedures, design scalable database structures, and develop tools for both real-time and offline analytic processing.
  • Scalability and Security: Build data pipelines that are scalable, repeatable, and secure, ensuring long-term performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshooting and Optimization: Proactively troubleshoot software programs and processes to ensure data consistency and integrity. Integrate data from multiple sources while adhering to data quality and accessibility standards.
  • Problem Resolution: Effectively identify, address, and resolve issues and roadblocks as they arise, minimizing disruption to operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interact with internal and external stakeholders and managers to communicate semi-complex information related to assigned projects and initiatives.

Educational Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following foundational requirements to be considered for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in data engineering, OR a Graduate Degree in a technical discipline.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, joins, aggregations, and optimization techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal stakeholders (peers, business partners, leadership) and external partners (business community, clients, vendors) within a matrixed organization to uphold the highest standards of service delivery.
  • Proven experience in reading, analyzing, and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions—driving the development of actionable outcomes and innovative solutions.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes, including both in-state and out-of-state engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge and position you for long-term success at arenaflex:

  • Hands-on experience with REST API development.
  • Experience with Azure application deployment and cloud-based solutions.
  • Deep familiarity with Azure technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks (using Python or Scala), App Services, Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, Event Hubs, Event Grids, and Logic Apps.
  • Experience constructing Azure DevOps pipelines to enable CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and process automation.
