[Remote] Senior PMU Operational Integration Consultant
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. AllStates Consulting Services is seeking an experienced PMU (Phasor Measurement Unit) Operational Integration Consultant to support the deployment, integration, and operational use of synchrophasor technologies within an RTO control room environment. This role will focus on defining and implementing operational requirements, enhancing real-time situational awareness, and advising operations teams on the effective use of PMU data to support grid stability monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Integrate PMU/synchrophasor data into control room operator workflows
- Define and implement operational requirements and use cases
- Support development of control-room visualizations, dashboards, and alarm strategies
- Enhance real-time situational awareness for grid operations
- Ensure alignment with NERC IBR stability standards and Large Load Reliability guideline
- Collaborate cross-functionally with: Operations engineering, EMS/SCADA teams, OT/IT teams and Reliability engineering groups
- Translate technical PMU analytics into operator procedures, training, and guidance
- Ensure PMU capabilities deliver actionable and reliable operational value
Skills
- 10+ years of experience with PMU deployment and integration in utility, ISO/RTO, or grid operator environments
- Strong experience with realtime PMU applications, including: Oscillation detection, Disturbance identification, Event analysis, Dynamic system behavior monitoring, Operational requirements development, Operator use cases, Alarm thresholds, Control room visualization concepts
- IEEE C37.118 protocols
- PMU data quality assessment
- PDC (Phasor Data Concentrator) configuration
- Synchrophasor data streaming performance
- Deep understanding of grid dynamics
- Knowledge of NERC IBR standards and Large Load Reliability guidelines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams
