[Remote] Associate Sales Tax Consultant

They are seeking a detail-oriented Sales Tax Consultant to support management and clients with state and local tax matters, including audits, nexus analyses, and compliance strategies.
Responsibilities
- Manage sales tax registrations and multistate compliance requirements
- Understand accounting concepts and analysis of accounting transactions
- Serve as a trusted advisor and provide expertise and excellent client service to Fortune 500 companies
- Conduct taxability research and provide guidance on sales and use tax obligations
- Analyze nexus and filing requirements across multi-state jurisdictions
- Assist clients with voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs) and historical exposure reviews
- Represent clients during sales tax audits, including audit defense, assessments, and appeals
- Prepare technical research, written guidance, and client recommendations
- Advise on exemption certificates, compliance processes, and risk mitigation strategies
- Monitor tax law changes and provide proactive guidance on state and local tax developments
Skills
- 1-3 years of professional experience as a Sales and Use Tax Consultant, including experience with taxability determinations, audit support, nexus reviews, and sales tax remediation projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical tax concepts clearly and professionally
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal team members and external clients, fostering collaboration, trust, and exceptional client service
- Ability to work independently in a 100% remote environment, demonstrating strong self-discipline, accountability, and time management skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Highly motivated to learn and grow through direct, hands-on coaching and mentoring, with a strong desire to continuously develop technical expertise and professional skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, but not required
