Why This Role Is a Game‑Changer

At arenaflex you will be at the heart of the Revenue & Planning Innovation team, shaping the data architecture that powers strategic decisions across the company. This is more than a data‑engineer position – it’s an opportunity to:

  • Lead the design and implementation of cutting‑edge data pipelines that serve millions of daily transactions.
  • Partner directly with product owners, analytics leaders, and business stakeholders to translate business problems into scalable data solutions.
  • Influence the evolution of arenaflex’s data‑driven culture by championing best practices in data governance, security, and quality.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a DevOps mindset across cross‑functional teams.
  • Enjoy a fully remote work arrangement with flexible hours, while still feeling part of a vibrant, purpose‑driven community.

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform Design & Development

  • Collaborate with source data application teams and product owners to design, build, and maintain robust data ingestion pipelines using Azure services (Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Event Hub, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, etc.).
  • Implement end‑to‑end data flows: from raw ingestion, through transformation, to curated analytics layers, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain both batch and streaming pipelines, leveraging technologies such as Azure Stream Analytics, Kafka, and Spark.
  • Write production‑grade code in Python, Scala, and SQL, adhering to clean‑code principles and automated testing standards.

DevOps & Cloud Operations

  • Own the CI/CD lifecycle for data pipelines using GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and Terraform.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize pipeline performance, implementing alerting and automated remediation where possible.
  • Drive the adoption of infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) to improve scalability and reproducibility.
  • Enforce security and compliance policies across all data assets, collaborating with the security team to implement data masking, encryption, and access controls.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Partner with data scientists, BI analysts, and business intelligence teams to understand analytical requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to sprint planning, and help prioritize work based on business impact.

Data Governance & Quality

  • Implement data quality frameworks using tools such as Informatica Axon, BigID, and custom validation scripts.
  • Document data lineage, metadata, and data models to support transparency and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with the data governance council to define and enforce data standards, policies, and best practices.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of professional experience developing data pipelines in an Agile/DevOps environment.

  • Data Warehousing: Experience with Snowflake, ADLS, Teradata, or similar data warehouse technologies.
  • CI/CD & IaC: Familiarity with GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Terraform, and container orchestration.
  • Data Modeling & ETL: Strong background in designing and implementing ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data lake architecture.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Advanced certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Experience with big‑data technologies like Cassandra, MongoDB, or Hadoop ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and data visualization best practices.
  • Exposure to data governance tools (Informatica Axon, Collibra, BigID) and data cataloging.
  • Previous work in the airline or travel industry, understanding of revenue management concepts.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
