The Opportunity: Customer Marketing Consulting (CMC) Team Lead

We are seeking a strategic, analytical, and relationship-driven Customer Marketing Consulting (CMC) Team Lead – Direct Marketing Targeting Strategy & Campaign Execution Manager to join our growing team. This pivotal role partners closely with Marketing to develop and execute direct marketing targeting strategies that reach our valued Consumer and Commercial customers with highly relevant and personalized offers. As the subject matter expert on the targeting and eligibility process, you will provide actionable recommendations, sophisticated solutions, and consultative guidance to help our marketing partners achieve their campaign goals with precision and impact.

As the CMC Team Lead, you will ensure the timely, accurate, and efficient execution and delivery of customer lists for campaign deployment across multiple marketing channels. You will troubleshoot complex problems, conduct deep analyses, and take ownership of identifying and leading process improvements that drive efficiency and automation throughout campaign execution. Additionally, you will provide marketers with essential training and guidance on the list execution process, empowering them to work more independently and effectively.

Please note: This role does not have direct reports but operates as a functional team lead, influencing outcomes through expertise, collaboration, and consultative leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consultative Partnership with Marketing: Serve as the primary consulting partner to marketing teams on targeting and eligibility strategies for benefit reinforcement and spend campaigns targeted at Consumer and Commercial customers. This includes conducting research on new data elements, reviewing segmentation logic within mail plans, meeting with risk and analytic partners, and helping marketers submit requests accurately within our eligibility platforms.
  • List Request Review and Execution: Review all list request submissions for accuracy, collaborate with marketing to finalize details, and provide clear, detailed instructions to list execution team members responsible for coding and creating files for delivery. Depending on available capacity, the Team Lead may also be directly responsible for list execution in Unica or proprietary list execution platforms.
  • Platform Transformation Support: Provide subject matter expertise to the platform transformation team, actively participating in testing and campaign migration efforts to ensure seamless transitions to new platforms.
  • Anomaly Investigation and Resolution: Troubleshoot and research any data anomalies or customer complaints that arise during campaign execution, working diligently to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Process Improvement Leadership: Identify process efficiencies and opportunities to simplify workflows or reduce the number of list requests from marketing, freeing up valuable capacity for higher-impact initiatives and strategic projects.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing: Develop and deliver training sessions, documentation, and ongoing guidance to empower marketers with a deeper understanding of the list execution process and best practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across marketing, analytics, risk, compliance, and technology teams to ensure alignment and successful campaign outcomes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Strategic and Logical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and develop logical, data-driven solutions to marketing challenges.
  • Marketing Operations Knowledge: Solid understanding of marketing operations, campaign execution workflows, and the intricacies of customer targeting in a large enterprise environment.
  • Data and Platform Experience: Hands-on experience working with data and marketing platforms such as Unica or Redpoint, with the ability to navigate and optimize these systems effectively.
  • Organizational Excellence: Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving Attitude: A “can-do” attitude paired with creative problem-solving skills and a willingness to tackle challenges head-on.
  • Relationship and Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills with demonstrated consulting expertise and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Process Improvement Mindset: A natural inclination toward identifying inefficiencies and implementing improvements that drive operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big Data and Programming Experience: Experience with big data platforms and programming languages such as Hive, PySpark, SQL, or similar technologies is a significant plus.
  • Advanced Analytics Background: Familiarity with advanced analytics, segmentation methodologies, and predictive modeling techniques used in direct marketing.
  • Change Management Experience: Prior experience supporting platform transformations, system migrations, or large-scale operational changes.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in financial services, consumer marketing, or related industries is highly desirable.

Compensation and Benefits

At arenaflex, we believe in rewarding talent and supporting holistic well-being. The expected salary range for this role is $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually, plus bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we’ll consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
