[Remote] Cloud Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Oxenham Group is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join their commercial professional services delivery team. The role involves designing and building AWS cloud infrastructure to help clients achieve their business goals while ensuring high-quality service and customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and continuously tune AWS cloud infrastructure so clients can hit their business goals
- Stand up Amazon VPC networking — subnets, security groups, and network ACLs
- Build IAM roles, groups, users, and policies on a least-privilege basis
- Provision, validate, and document environments across dev, pre-prod, and production
- Author infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and the AWS CDK to keep deployments repeatable and maintainable
- Produce gold AMIs and set up auto-scaling groups for compute workloads
- Turn on multi-factor authentication across hardware and virtual devices
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Advise development teams on AWS architecture decisions and design principles
- Lead with an automation-first mindset, defaulting to Terraform and other IaC tooling wherever it makes sense
- Apply consistent resource tagging to support cost allocation and capacity planning
- Contribute to usage-based cost modeling and tune infrastructure for both performance and budget
- Help scope and execute workload migrations, including VM moves; relevant tooling spans cloud-native migration services (e.g., AWS MGN), hypervisor migration (e.g., VMware HCX), and third-party backup/recovery platforms (e.g., Veeam, Clumio)
- Confirm that workloads have landed cleanly in AWS, then retire the matching on-premises footprint
- Join daily progress check-ins and hold the team accountable to agreed technical approaches
- Log time against assigned projects each day
- Work transparently, respond quickly to teammates, and surface working preferences to keep the team performing well
- Pick up additional duties as needed
