Position Overview – Remote Analyst (6‑Month Contract)

We are seeking a highly motivated Remote Analyst to support the arenaflex Merchandise Planning Analytics team. This 6‑month contract role offers the chance to work entirely from home while contributing to the strategic growth of arenaflex’s non‑pharmacy retail segment. The analyst will own end‑to‑end reporting for our private‑label (Own Brand) portfolio, transform massive data sets into actionable insights, and partner closely with merchants, planners, and finance professionals to drive profitable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain Own Brand reporting: Design, build, and refresh daily, weekly, and monthly dashboards that track sales, inventory, and profitability for thousands of private‑label SKUs.
  • Data recapping and analysis: Conduct item‑level historical performance reviews, identify trends, and produce concise executive summaries that inform merchandising strategy.
  • Forecasting and demand planning: Develop forward‑looking forecasts using historical sales patterns, promotional calendars, and seasonal drivers to support accurate replenishment decisions.
  • Complex Excel modeling: Leverage advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros, and array functions to synthesize large data sets and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Ad‑hoc analytical support: Respond quickly to business‑driven requests, delivering deep‑dive analyses that address emerging opportunities or challenges.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration: Build strong working relationships with merchandising, planning, finance, and supply‑chain partners to ensure alignment on data definitions and reporting cadence.
  • Documentation and knowledge sharing: Create clear documentation of methodologies, data sources, and reporting logic to enable seamless hand‑offs and future scalability.
  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance data quality, and introduce best‑in‑class analytical techniques.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in data analytics, financial analysis, assortment planning, retail merchandising, or a comparable field.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Excel at an intermediate to advanced level, including mastery of SUM/SUMIFS, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros, and array formulas.
  • Strong understanding of retail merchandising fundamentals such as category management, inventory turnover, sell‑through, and average unit retail (AUR) dynamics.
  • Proven ability to translate complex quantitative findings into compelling narratives for senior leadership, using clear visualizations and concise PowerPoint decks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of delivering presentations that influence decision‑making.
  • Self‑starter mindset with the capacity to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a fully remote environment.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams, demonstrating diplomacy and the ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.

Preferred (Nice‑to‑Have) Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Data Science, Engineering, Statistics).
  • Hands‑on experience with SQL, Microsoft Access, or other database querying tools to extract and manipulate large data sets.
  • Background in retail environments beyond pharmacy, especially in consumer goods, fashion, or electronics.
  • Exposure to data‑science techniques such as predictive modeling, clustering, or machine‑learning algorithms.
  • Familiarity with data‑visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) that complement Excel‑based reporting.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical rigor: Ability to dissect complex data, identify root causes, and propose data‑backed recommendations.
  • Storytelling with data: Transform raw numbers into clear, persuasive narratives that resonate with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Technical proficiency: Advanced Excel capabilities are non‑negotiable; additional experience with SQL, macros, or VBA is highly valued.
  • Business acumen: Understanding of retail economics, margin drivers, and the interplay between pricing, promotion, and inventory.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to partner effectively with merchandising, planning, finance, and supply‑chain teams.
  • Time management: Ability to juggle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver high‑quality work on schedule.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with evolving priorities, shifting business needs, and a fast‑paced remote work setting.
