With a strong focus on compliance, technology, and employee development, arenaflex has built a reputation for delivering reliable, high‑quality talent that helps healthcare providers improve patient outcomes, streamline revenue cycles, and stay ahead of regulatory changes. Our Texas‑based client, a respected medical practice serving the Dallas‑Fort Worth metroplex, partners with arenaflex to source top‑tier billing and data entry talent that can thrive in a remote, fast‑paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and confidentiality.

Why This Role Matters

In today’s complex healthcare ecosystem, accurate medical billing and precise data entry are the lifeblood of a practice’s financial health. Every claim submitted, every patient record updated, and every payer portal interaction directly influences cash flow, compliance, and patient satisfaction. As a Billing Clerk/Data Entry Specialist with arenaflex, you will be the critical bridge between clinical documentation and payer reimbursement, ensuring that claims are processed efficiently, errors are minimized, and the practice’s revenue cycle runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform entry‑level billing of medical claims, accurately translating clinical information into claim forms that meet payer requirements.
  • Enter patient demographics, procedure codes, diagnosis codes, and other essential data into the electronic health record (EHR) system with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Verify patient information against insurance eligibility databases to prevent claim denials.
  • Monitor payer portals (including Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurers) for claim status updates, and proactively address any pending or rejected claims.
  • Resubmit corrected claims promptly, following each payer’s specific guidelines and timelines.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations when handling medical records, ensuring that all disclosures to providers, insurers, and patients are authorized and documented.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve daily and weekly productivity targets, offering assistance on complex cases and sharing best practices.
  • Participate in quarterly or annual in‑person meetings in McKinney, TX, when required, to align with team goals and receive updated training.
  • Document and track all billing activities in the practice’s reporting system, providing transparent metrics for management review.
  • Continuously stay informed about changes to Medicaid guidelines, payer policies, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and optimal reimbursement.

Essential Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands‑on experience in medical billing, preferably within a Medicaid‑focused environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with medical billing software (e.g., AdvancedMD, Kareo, or similar) and EHR platforms.
  • Strong understanding of insurance claim submission processes, including familiarity with payer‑specific guidelines and reimbursement cycles.
  • Excellent references from past employers that attest to reliability, accuracy, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining clear communication with supervisors and teammates.
  • Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite, internet navigation, and secure file transfer protocols.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Certification such as Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is a plus.
  • Experience with Medicaid claim adjudication, including knowledge of state‑specific rules and common denial reasons.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance procedures and the ability to apply them consistently in daily tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify patterns in claim rejections and suggest process improvements.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear interaction with providers, insurers, and patients.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of accuracy under pressure.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Attention to Detail: Precision in data entry and claim preparation is non‑negotiable.
  • Team Collaboration: While the role is remote, success depends on seamless teamwork and willingness to support colleagues.
  • Problem‑Solving: Ability to troubleshoot claim denials, navigate payer portals, and resolve discrepancies quickly.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with evolving software tools, policy updates, and occasional in‑person meetings.
  • Integrity & Confidentiality: Upholding HIPAA standards and safeguarding patient information at all times.
