Weekend Content Writer for Video Games and Entertainment Media - Freelance

Destructoid is a place for passionate gamers and nerdy enthusiasts to find engaging articles & information about their favorite franchises written by other passionate nerds. Currently, we're looking for freelance weekend writers to join our fully remote and international newsroom. Working with Destructoid means having the opportunity to write about a variety of video game topics, while creating SEO-focused articles based on your own gameplay and expertise. Applicants should expect to write guides, listicles, news, and other evergreen content. We encourage writers to use their own voice when writing and to continue developing their knowledge, opinions, and skills. Responsibilities: • Publish news, how-to guides, and listicles during the weekend (Sat-Sun) • Follow trending topics and stay up-to-date on your assigned communities • Pitch new article topics Requirements: • At least 1-2 years of prior game/entertainment writing experience (with Trello and WordPress familiarity) • Deep... knowledge of video games/entertainment and their related communities • Excitement, dedication, and an ability to pivot when needed While applying to this position, please provide us with a resume, 1-3 relevant writing samples (an application without a writing sample will not be considered), and a brief cover letter explaining what you're most capable of writing about.
