About the position The Primary Nurse for Oncology at HCSC is responsible for managing members with specialty oncology diagnoses. This role involves performing all functions of case management, serving as the primary contact for members and healthcare personnel, and coordinating care to promote quality and cost-effective outcomes. The position emphasizes education, resource identification, and facilitating care coordination for members, ensuring they receive the necessary support and information regarding their health needs. Responsibilities • Manage members with specialty oncology diagnoses. , • Perform all functions of case management as the primary contact for members and healthcare personnel. , • Coordinate care and identify alternate treatment programs. , • Consult with physicians, providers, and members to evaluate options and services required for health needs. , • Promote quality and cost-effective outcomes in care management. , • Educate members about their specific conditions and available resources. , • Facilitate the coordination of care for identified members. Requirements • Registered Nurse (RN) Compact License with a current, valid, unrestricted license in the state of operations. , • 4 years of clinical practice experience in direct clinical care, including 3 years of recent specialty (oncology certification) clinical experience. , • Knowledge of specialty diagnosis drugs, adjunct therapies, and treatment protocols, including side effects and complications. , • Current certification in one of the following: ONS/ONCC/AOCN/CPON/AOCNP/CDE/CDCDS. , • Proficiency in PC applications including Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, and database experience. , • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills. , • Knowledge of UM/CM/DM activities and standardized criteria set. , • Familiarity with ancillary services including HHC, SNF, Hospice, etc. , • Strong analytical skills and sound clinical judgment. Nice-to-haves • Experience in managing complex or catastrophic health cases. , • Inpatient and outpatient experience preferred. , • 1-year experience in Care Management in a health insurance/managed care setting. , • Current CCM certification. , • Knowledge of medical management policies and procedures. , • 1-year education experience in a specialty area.
