Netflix is hiring: Product Design Manager, Ads Platform in Los Gatos

Remote Full-time Live

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with 283 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time. • **Flexible Remote Model: This role is a hybrid role. The business will require onsite engagement weekly while offering flexibility to work from home. Onsite/Remote depends on the business needs and priority of onsite business meetings, and working from home in low-engagement weeks. We are seeking a highly ambitious, visionary, and systems-minded Product Design Manager to lead our world-class Ads Platform Experience Design Team. The team is very high-performing and requires an exceptional leader with deep domain and craft expertise, with strong emotional intelligence. You'll be a foundational member of the advertising leadership team, working together with your partners in product, engineering, data science, consumer insights, content design, and other disciplines to define the strategy, operations and communications that enable Netflix to build a wildly successful advertising business. You measure success in terms of both human and business impact. You foster excellence through collaboration and encourage an inclusive, open environment that makes space for different perspectives and work styles. You inspire creativity and you’re an excellent advocate, evangelist, and listener who seeks and offers candid, constructive feedback. You will lead as a domain expert within our technical product design team, delivering a delightful, engaging, and relevant ads experience for Netflix advertisers and business stakeholders. This hybrid-friendly role offers flexibility, with weekly onsite presence required to collaborate with stakeholders in Los Angeles and Los Gatos, CA - with quarterly travel to New York, NY. Candidates located in California or the Pacific time zone are preferred, but exceptions can be made for the right candidate. The Team We recently launched a new ad-supported tier (https://about.netflix.com/en/news/announcing-basic-with-ads-us) to offer our members more choice in how they consume their content. Our new tier allows us to attract new members at a lower price point, while also creating a compelling path for advertisers to reach audiences that are deeply immersed. Our Ads Platform XD team designs technology, workflows, and capabilities that power Netflix’s advertising business. We also design the foundational capabilities and technology for the next-generation of Netflix experiences, like Live entertainment. We design the advertising systems and integrations that power the delivery of ads using our world class content delivery ecosystem. We deliver ads in a manner that’s thoughtful of our members’ viewing experience and drives great outcomes for advertisers. Our team is growing quickly, and yet faced with the ambitions of building highly performant advertising systems and delivering high impact to our business by monetizing our incredible slate of content. As one of the newest entrants in the Connected TV advertising space that’s rapidly growing, we seek to build unique value propositions that differentiate Netflix from other ad-supported streaming services. Our team’s primary superpower is the ability to design creatively and collaboratively in highly technical environments – from core services that power Netflix’s streaming technology to industry-leading partnership platforms. You’ll be the Product Design Manager for this team, reporting into the Director, you’ll lead, amplify, and grow one of the most talented and trailblazing design teams in the world. Why You’ll Love Our Team Mission-Driven: Our mission is simple: to be the best advertising design team in the world. High-Performing Team: We are a high-morale, high-velocity team with a significant growth trajectory. Trust-Driven Leadership: Our leadership is focused on delivering big wins for Netflix, not playing politics. Operational Success: Our embedded Design Program Management and Business Operations functions ensure you are set up with efficient planning, structure, and team coordination. Fulfillment-Driven Culture: We enjoy winning together, not competing against each other. Competitive Compensation: We offer top-of-market compensation and benefits (https://candidate.netflix.com/united-states/candidate-benefits) , flexible time off, and work-life balance. Work Flexibility: Balance work-from-home and in-office work, with the ability to be onsite for meaningful collaboration and leadership presence. Team-First Attitude: A palpable excitement for craft excellence and team culture (https://jobs.netflix.com/culture) that amplifies our team’s velocity, performance, and camaraderie. Leadership Skills: Understand leadership theory and craft a style that motivates a winning, high-performing team. Exceptional Writing: You are an exceptional written communicator, contributing meaningfully to ads design, business, and product strategy. Storytelling Ability: A world-class visual and verbal communicator with deep advertising domain expertise and mastery of ads nomenclature. Executive Presence: Proven track record of influencing strategic business decisions at the Director+ level across cross-functional and business partners. High Standards: Set high performance standards and hold designers accountable, making tough decisions for a more impactful team. Consumer & Platform Needs: Experience bridging experience requirements between an advertising business platform and consumer needs . What You’ll Do Lead the Team: Lead the Ads Platform Product Design Team, pioneering the global advertising ecosystem for Netflix. Build a Diverse Team: Manage and build a diverse, inclusive team of Senior Product Designers that consistently delivers impactful ads platform experiences. Provide Structure: Document team structure, expectations, performance guidance, and engagement models. Understand Workstreams: Develop a deep understanding across all Ads Platform workstreams to effectively resource, coach, and solve problems for your team. Coach and Mentor: Coach and mentor team performance, manage resource allocation, project prioritization, and cultivate a culture of design excellence. Inspire and Engage: Keep your teams inspired and engaged by providing strategic clarity, direction, and focus while identifying and unblocking barriers to success. Champion Design Thinking: Advocate for user-centered design and B2B systems to drive ads differentiation at scale. Introduce Methodologies: Introduce new user-centered methodologies and frameworks to facilitate strategic alignment across the organization. Strategic Contribution: Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of Netflix's products, balancing long-term vision with near-term objectives. Collaborate Closely: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Consumer Insights, and Ads Business leadership partners to plan OKRs and execute product roadmaps. Balanced Decision-Making: Bring a balanced perspective to strategic discussions, advocating for both user-centricity and business needs. Build Relationships: Build relationships with stakeholders and partners to discover and deliver the best outcomes for Netflix. Seek Feedback: Actively seek and provide constructive feedback. Continuous Improvement: Always look to improve the product, team, and company. Even Better: Exceptional storyteller: you are able to communicate business strategy to an executive audience through visual and nomenclature expertise. Ad tech domain architect : you’ve developed expertise in delivering advertising technology to a global audience - and can be a source of guidance and mentorship for designers.
