Position Overview As a Data Engineer III on our Marketplace Strategy and Analytics team, you will create, manage, and optimize critical datasets while working with massive data volumes. What You’ll Do Data Engineering Excellence: Build and manage complex data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, Kafka, and Spark, transforming raw data into governed, high-value assets. Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including Data Scientists, Analysts, and business stakeholders, to design and implement solutions that address intricate challenges. Data Modeling: Develop logical and physical data models, define relational structures, and optimize data flows for efficiency and accuracy. Code Development & Testing: Write, test, and deploy scalable code in languages like SQL, Python, Java, or Scala to meet business requirements. Strategic Impact: Contribute to the evolution of Walmart’s marketplace business model, leveraging data to make meaningful improvements in customers’ lives. What You Bring Technical Expertise: 3+ years of experience with Big Data platforms such as Spark, Hadoop, or BigQuery. Proficiency in real-time data streaming and processing tools like Kafka or Spark Streaming. Strong SQL skills with a track record of writing optimized queries across large datasets. Programming proficiency in SQL, Java, Python, or Scala. Hands-on experience with distributed SQL engines like Presto and cloud platforms such as Azure or Google Cloud. Knowledge of relational database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle). Data Pipeline Development: Expertise in creating robust pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address complex business problems with innovative, data-driven solutions.
