Job description: SummaryThe District of Columbia Courts, offers internships for students interested in seeking valuable experience in courts administration. Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Courts’ mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia.This internship is for Fall 2025.If background screening results are received earlier, the intern can start Summer 2025.Overview
- Accepting applications
- Assist in drafting and editing internal communications, PowerPoint presentation and talking points for executive briefings.
- Assist in the research on best practices in juvenile justice, evidence-based interventions and emerging trends in youth rehabilitation.
- Help coordinate internal trainings, court-wide task forces and multi-agency stakeholder meetings.
- Observe and support initiatives across other units.
- Assist in organizing administrative records, project summaries and division wide communications.
- Help prepare materials for division wide staff meetings, recognition events and public facing programs.
- Assist with file preparation and review of referral documentation.
- Observe clinical interviews, court-ordered psychological assessments, and screenings.
- Help organize orientation materials for new interns and staff
- Support the maintenance and organization of assessment inventory systems.
- Help consolidate program documents and improve filing and recordkeeping processes.
- Assist with additional team projects and operational tasks as needed.
- Shadow Probation Officers during family interviews and presentments.
- Observe and participate in live GPS monitoring and installation.
- Learn about fleet, mail, and equipment logistics through the Contracts and Juvenile Information Offices.
- Assist with coordination of client services and operational tasks.
- Background and security investigation are required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week.
