• May act as lead in the custodial care of Pierce County facilities and relieve the Custodian Supervisor as necessary.
• Provides training and guidance to new employees; assigns work and monitors the work of others; performs job site inspections at various facilities.
• Operates floor sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, shampooing, extracting, cleaning, and dusting equipment.
• Performs routine cleaning of floors, walls, windows, fixtures, furniture, and woodwork.
• Performs related minor repair jobs of a less technical and skilled level.

Qualifications

• At least two or more years of experience responsible custodial, building maintenance, or a related field.
• Additional education or training in facilities, janitorial, or custodian care will substitute for the recruitment requirements.

Special Requirements:

• Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Washington State Driver's license.
• Ability to successfully complete all Pierce County background investigations to include fingerprinting.
• Ability to pass County-approved physical examinations.

Special Note:

• Certain positions in this class may be required to possess or have the ability to obtain licenses required by the state, local, or federal code or regulations including but not limited to Class III Boiler Operations License and State Asbestos Worker Certification.
• Employees are subject to 24-hour on call availability.
• Must be able to work any shift at any location.
