ResponsibilitiesPart Time Benefits Eligible Role$10,000 Sign on Bonus Eligible!Provides support to mother/infant dyads with breastfeeding needs and lactation problems in a manner developmentally appropriate for adolescents and adults as necessary; Accountable for evaluation of continuous quality improvement, and compliance with hospital policy and procedure.1. Instructs mothers on all tasks necessary to initiate and maintain lactation during the infant's hospitalization; may include prenatal instruction and post-discharge follow-up2. Evaluates breastfeeding oral motor mechanics of infants and milk transfer making appropriate recommendations and management strategies3. Documents observations, assessments and recommendations made during consultation in patient record4. Performs all tasks necessary to ensure the mother's adherence to quality control departmental policies related to milk collection, storage and transport5. Obtains information on maternal medication use and evaluates its compatibility or prohibitive status related to breastfeeding or expressed breast milk feeding6. Attends continuing education Workshops, seminars and in-services and fulfills all mandatory education requirements as documented on staff development roster7. Attends staff meetings and/or reads minutes 90% of the time to keep abreast of current information as documented in meeting sign-in sheets8.
