Position SummaryThe Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.Join our team! Under the CDD's Family and Community Partnerships Division, the Partners for Employment (PFE) program is looking to hire an Education Specialist to work with communities throughout New Mexico. This position develops, coordinates and facilitates trainings, hosts regional meetings, and provides technical assistance in support of PFE's mission to advance supported employment best practices for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD)The Education Specialist will need to possess strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities. Experience leading and facilitating community teams and providing training and technical assistance to individuals with diverse levels of technical skills is essential to this position.The individual who is hired for this position will need to have the ability to effectively share content information, manage multiple projects, shifting priorities and meet monthly reporting deadlines. Project management, organization and team coordination skills are strongly desired. Experience with adult learning theory to create and deliver training is strongly desired.Experience working with individuals with I/DD in a school, supported employment or community setting is preferred. The position requires regular statewide travel.
