About the position The Field Technician II position at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) involves providing maintenance support solutions to government customers. This role requires onsite presence in Washington, DC, where the technician will support multiple production-related machines, ensuring they operate efficiently. The technician will collaborate with onsite staff and the remote GDIT team to address mechanical and electrical needs, contributing to the expansion of services offered to government organizations. Responsibilities • Fabricates, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and/or other types of components and equipment. , • Researches, evaluates, and develops solutions to problems. , • Performs maintenance of different types of equipment and infrastructure. , • Supports multiple motion control systems, automated inspection systems, automated mailing systems, Class IV lasers, and other production equipment. , • Collaborates with other team members to install new equipment or implement modifications requested by the customer/client. , • Tests equipment and systems to evaluate whether they meet compliance standards. , • Reports findings and provides solutions for any issues that may halt progression. , • Conducts thorough follow-up assessments and checkups of equipment and makes recommendations where applicable. , • Assists with all preventative maintenance and maintains any required documentation. Requirements • At least three years of experience supporting computer-controlled electro-mechanical machinery, particularly in letter printing and envelope stuffing. , • Experience working with optical systems (lasers) is a plus. , • Intermediate computer skills including configuring and troubleshooting are required. , • Good team player with effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. , • Good communication skills and familiarity with using MS Office. Nice-to-haves • An Associates of Arts/Associates of Science degree is desired.
