It involves the handling of various shipments, ensuring that they are carefully loaded and unloaded while maintaining high levels of precision and accuracy. The Dock Operations Support is expected to maintain a safe working environment, follow all company protocols, and achieve productivity targets. Key Responsibilities: • Loading/Unloading Freight: Use correct techniques while loading and unloading freight, whether using handheld equipment or physically lifting and moving items. • Cargo Handling: The company guidelines for proper cargo handling should be followed meticulously, ensuring that freight is stacked, organized, and secured systematically to avoid any potential damage during transit. • Documentation: Ensure that there are no discrepancies in the shipping documents, such as incorrect labeling, missing items, or overcharges. • Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety procedures and guidelines is essential to establishing a safe workplace, and appropriately wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is key. • Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely while moving materials to different locations. • Collaboration: Establish effective communication channels and work closely with all stakeholders to guarantee a streamlined and productive dock operation. • Problem Solving: As part of your responsibilities, you are tasked with addressing any problems or inconsistencies that may occur during the loading or unloading process and bringing them to the attention of the appropriate personnel. • Housekeeping: Organize the dock area to maintain a clutter-free work environment, with safety being a top priority. Qualifications: • Experience: Prior exposure to a dock or warehouse environment is preferred, but not mandatory. • Physical Requirements: The physical criteria require the capacity to frequently lift and transfer heavy items weighing up to 100 pounds and the ability to stand or walk for long periods. • Skills: Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, effective communication abilities, and adeptness in working under pressure. • Licenses/Certifications: Possessing forklift certification is beneficial but can be obtained from the company if required. • Work Schedule: The work schedule mandates flexibility in terms of working hours to cover shifts that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
