Experienced Product Manager, Retirement and Income Solutions

What You'll Do

We're looking for a Product Manager to join our Retirement and Income Solutions team, with a focus on Participant Advice solutions. In this role, you’ll help shape the vision and strategy, drive product execution, and collaborate closely across disciplines—including design, engineering, data, and business stakeholders—to deliver outcomes that matter. You’ll bring curiosity, open-mindedness, and a passion for solving customer problems, while gaining hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle—from discovery to delivery and iteration. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Executing on the Participant Advice product strategy
  • Understanding and defining key business outcomes and requirements for Participant Advice product offerings, including both In-Plan Advice and Education services
  • Our In-Plan Advice team supports participants who engage in our Target My Retirement® managed accounts and advice services
  • Our Education services provide group and individual, onsite and virtual education on the solutions the participant’s plan sponsor and Principal offer
  • Finding opportunities/problems to solve and articulating hypotheses
  • Leading the product team (design, engineering, and various business roles) in ideating and running experiments
  • Delivering positive outcomes as part of a product team(s) by assessing value of experiments, collaborating to draw out insights, and sharing learnings with key partners

  • 4+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, military experience, or education
  • 2+ years working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with engineering teams and partners while managing 1 or multiple products
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to lead, influence and negotiate with partners at all levels of the company
  • Strong strategic thinking/vision, collaboration and decision-making skills along with business savviness and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating, influencing, and negotiating in a professional team environment, including using diverse perspectives and data to inform actions

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

  • Product Management experience in a mature environment with understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery
  • Financial Services experience, preferably within retail investment understanding of participant’s needs, retirement market dynamics and operations, competition, and trends
  • High level technical understanding, ability to use technology to solve business problems

Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly) $100800 - $182400 / year Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided. Work Environments This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
