Job Summary:

Waterbury Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Portuguese Language Bilingual Resource/ESL Teacher to join our school district. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing a strong instructional program for multilingual learners, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to maximize student learning, and collaborating with other teachers and staff to develop language programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, plan, and implement English/Portuguese instruction for multilingual learners
• Monitor and assess student progress
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to maximize student learning
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to develop language programs
• Provide support and guidance to multilingual learners
• Develop lesson plans and materials to meet individual student needs
• Facilitate parent and community involvement
• Participate in and facilitate professional development activities

Qualifications & Skills:

• CT-Bilingual cross endorsement and TESOL (111) certification
• Bi-literate in Portuguese/English
• Knowledgeable in language acquisition
• Experience teaching multilingual learners
• Experience using a variety of teaching methods and materials
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Patience and understanding of cultural differences
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
