We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Newcomer Classroom Assistant - Spanish to join our team at Adams County School District 12. As a Newcomer Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting newcomer students in the core classroom, providing native language support, and serving as a link between the school and family. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide native language support and instructional assistance in all subject areas for newcomer students.
- Assist with implementation of teacher's instruction plan, prepare materials, administer tests, and perform paperwork and documentation as needed.
- Serve as a link between the school and family, providing supplemental interpreting and translation services for multilingual students and families.
- Help newcomer students build a positive self-image and view their culture and themselves with pride.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including lunchroom/playground duty.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish required.
- No experience required, but experience working with school-age children preferred.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- First Aid certification preferred.
