Join the University of Chicago Library Team as a Librarian for English and American Literatures

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Librarian to serve as the liaison to the Department of English Language and Literature and the Committee on Creative Writing. As a key member of our team, you will develop and provide reference, consultation, and instructional services for faculty, students, and staff, while also contributing to the growth and maintenance of our extensive collections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and provide research support and instruction services for faculty, students, and staff in English and American literatures
  • Manage print and electronic collections to support the University's research and teaching missions
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide digital scholarship services and participate in library-wide committees and task forces
  • Contribute to the development of library-based course assignments and provide individual research consultations
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in academic libraries, including digital humanities and open scholarship

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution or an advanced degree in English/American literature with relevant library experience
  • Two or more years of relevant library experience, with a strong background in literature and language resources
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and staff
  • Experience with digital scholarship methodologies and tools, or a willingness to learn and adapt
